Date & Tiime:
Sun, Oct 11
4:00 PM - 5:30 PM EDT
Location:
Cathedral Church of St. Paul
2 Cherry Street
Burlington, VT 05401
Join us for a spectacular choral and orchestral event combining the Cathedral Choirs, guest singers and soloists, the Professional Choristers of the Choir School of Newport County (Rhode Island), and the Rhode Island Festival Orchestra
of twenty players. Anglican cathedral grandeur (C. H. H. Parry's Jerusalem,
John Ireland's Greater love), modern solace (Judith Weir's Vertue, John Tavener's Song for Athene), and plaintive cries for peace (Ned Rorem's What if some little pain, Max Janowski's Sim Shalom) prepare us for the second half, the 45-minute A Poet's Requiem by Peter Berton, directed by the composer. With the backdrop of fall foliage through the massive south window, and a candlelit conclusion, you won't want to miss this journey of the soul—from birth through love, praise, reflection and death to eternal life—in poetry and song.
